Free online wedding seating chart maker
Paste your guest list and every name lands on a table straight away. Move anyone to a different seat, add tables until the room fits, and do all of it before you decide whether to sign up.
- Free to use
- No account needed
- Names stay in your browser
- Spreadsheet, PDF and image export
One name per line. A column copied from Excel or Google Sheets works as it is. Write 2 after a name to seat two people, or +1 to add a companion.
Take the plan with you: a list for the venue, a spreadsheet you can keep editing, or a picture of the room.
What the planner does once it knows your guests
The planner above is the whole tool and it stays free. These four need a celebration behind them, because they work from the relationships between your guests and the answers those guests give you.
Automatic seating runs
Seat everyone at once from the rules you set, and leave the tables you locked exactly where they are.
Compatibility matrix
See table by table which guests belong together, and which pairs are better kept apart.
What if scenarios
Move one guest and see what it does to the rest of the room before you keep the change.
Shared plan links
Send the plan to your partner or your venue, and collect their comments on the tables themselves.
Where people actually sit
Most of the work in a seating chart is not the geometry of the room, it is the order of the decisions. Start with the head table, then the families closest to it, then everyone whose evening depends on who they are next to. The middle of the room sorts itself out once those are fixed.
A sweetheart table for two makes the couple easy to photograph and takes eight seats out of the problem. A long head table keeps the wedding party together but pulls their partners to another table, which is worth saying out loud in advance rather than letting people discover it on the night.
Leave the tables nearest the band or the speakers for guests who will be dancing anyway, and put grandparents, anyone with a hearing aid and families with small children at the quiet end. It costs nothing at this stage and it cannot be fixed once the room is set.
Questions people ask
Is this seating chart maker really free?
Yes. Arranging tables and guests on this page costs nothing and needs no account. The automatic seating runs, the compatibility matrix and the shared links belong to the paid plan.
Do I have to create an account?
No. The plan is saved in your own browser, so you can close the tab and come back to it. An account is only needed once you want the plan attached to a real celebration, with your guest list and their answers.
Where is my guest list stored?
In this browser and nowhere else. The names you type here do not reach us, which is deliberate: they are other people's personal data, and they have no business arriving at our end before you have an account and have accepted the terms.
Can I import a guest list from a spreadsheet?
Paste the column straight into the guest list box. Cells copied from Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers work as they are, and a small number next to a name seats that many people.
Can AI create a seating chart?
It can do the part that is arithmetic. With an account, the optimizer places guests against the rules you set, who must sit together and who must not, and scores the result. What it cannot do is know what nobody told it. It reads the groups, households and answers you collected, and it has no opinion about the cousin nobody warned it about.
Can I download or print the seating chart?
Yes, and without an account. The PDF lists every guest with their table and seat number, which is the format a venue and a caterer ask for. On a computer you can also download the room itself as an image, exactly as you arranged it.
Does the planner work on a phone?
Yes, in a different shape. A phone shows the tables as a list and moves guests between them by tapping, because dragging inside a floor plan that zooms fights the page for every gesture. The full canvas wants a tablet or a computer.
How many guests fit at one table?
A 150 cm round table seats eight comfortably and ten at a squeeze. A 180 cm round seats ten, or twelve if nobody minds their elbows. Venues usually quote the squeeze figure, so the comfortable number is about two seats below the one you were given.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser, on a phone or a laptop, and there is nothing to download. The plan is saved in this browser, so you can close the tab and come back to it.
